“Leave it to Santa Monica to be home of the world’s first Vegan Oktoberfest! Yes, it’s true and it will be fun AND delicious! Going on Saturday, October 4 (12pm-6pm), the celebration promises the traditional tastes of Germany (with a meat-free twist) and recreate the feel of a genuine German beer hall with live Oompah bands, Bavarian maidens and food from folks like Sage Organic Bistro and Pop N Mama and their famous funnel cakes and pretzels. Of course, vegan craft beer will poured to perfection by dozens of great breweries. Guests will be provided a beer stein with admission to be used for their beer(s) of choice all day with unlimited refills.”

“Though some beer utilizes animal products as part of the filtration process, most are vegan by default, making the assortment of specialty food vendors the main difference at the world’s first Vegan Oktoberfest.

“Focusing on already vegan German favorites such as pretzels, potato pancakes and sauerkraut, food trucks including Sage, Urban Pie, Green Truck and Beyond Meat are preparing themed menus to be consumed with beers from the nearly 20 local breweries (Hangar 24, Golden Road, Angel City and Modern Times) already confirmed. Southern Fried Vegan is even adding a special beer brat to its menu, which will come loaded with kraut on a pretzel bun.”

“Well, there’s a first for everything. The world’s first vegan Oktoberfest will be coming to Santa Monica on October 4, so get your lederhosen and beer steins ready.

“Vegan Oktoberfest won’t be too different from your average Bavarian celebration—there will be live traditional German music, stein-holding contests, Bavarian maidens, and oompah bands; however, the twist is that you’ll be getting a sweet selection of vegan craft beer and dishes. And it’ll be held in a shaded area with picnic tables and views of the ocean.”

“This festival has made a huge splash already and they haven’t even held their first event. The people behind the Vegan Oktoberfest want to show the world that no animals have to be harmed to have a fun time with great beer, great food and great people. If I were on the West Coast on October 4th, it is where I would be.”
